Cake Experiment Day: Five (PARTY TIME)

My experience doing this cake was a good one.

  • It really takes alot of time and mucho patience!

  • I really enjoyed creating something with my hands. The cake tasted very good.

  • I learned the importance of making sure the cakes are as level as humanly possible. I also learned the importance of structure. My cake almost fell over when I got to the party site. The ride over (10 minutes) was fairly bumpy even though we were going very slow. (which started to make the cake moosh in the back and become crooked and unstable). The table at the farm was of course slanted. I just happened to look over at the cake (literally) a few seconds before it was going to fall over!! Luckily, C helped me prop it up and try to do some damage control. It ended up looking OK. I got a lot of compliments. It was very stressful!! LOL and I almost cried when it almost fell.

  • I have learned a great deal and I will try it again. :0)

Bubba's Birthday Bash

We had Bubba's birthday party at a petting farm this year. All of the kids really had a great time. ( All of the adults wished it was much warmer and that they sold hot drinks there!!) :0)

The kids got to feed all of the animals. They even had lots of baby animals!! They took a hayride and got to play on all of the fairytale playground. Thanks everyone for being a part of our Lil Man's BIG day!!

It'll look even better when I get to really attach all of the animals and put on the candles that I bought. I can't wait to see the really finished product.

Cake Experiment Day: Two

Okay, so I cheated (a little). Instead of fondant lettering, I bought sticky-backed foam and cut out the name.

It took about 45 minutes and lots of muscle to get this shade of red.
(it does look RED, right?!?)

Going from bright white to bright red was tough. I think next time I will just buy extra red fondant. :0)
